This is a truly lovely summer wine, and you will find it at almost any major grocery store for about $10 a bottle. Be sure to serve it well chilled.
I usually have mixed feelings with California Sauvignon Blancs — I’ve tried too many that have great promise at the beginning of a sip but a disappointing, almost sweet and insipid finish. However, a lot of people prefer California Sauv Blancs because they tend to like something a little less pucker-y.
Geyser Peak a nice compromise. It has enough structure to hold up well against grilled fish, lobster, or crab, but a mild enough finish to be perfectly drinkable and approachable on its own. Lime, green apple, and fresh-cut grass are just a few of the many things this wine has going on. Personally, it makes me crave oysters, right off the shell, in all their salty, slimy deliciousness.
