The rusticity of the bell peppers and cherry peppers with the red wine sauce matched really nicely with the dried fruit component of the wine. The heat still lingered, though.

2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Barberini Blanc

Let me begin with a confession: I am usually not a fan of the white wines from Chateauneuf du Pape. This is hot, red wine territory. The whites can feel blowsy, soft and coarse. But there are exceptions such as the superb whites from Beaucastel, Clos des Papes and of course Rayas.
