We Asked YouTuber Preppy Kitchen To Watch And Review The Worst Baking Fails

Baking is an art, one that, at its best, is calming, precious, and gratifying. It's a meticulous medium that can take years to perfect. Ahhh. For others, it's a total and complete sh*t show.

We asked professional baker and YouTuber John Kanell to sit, watch, and react to the worst baking fails we could find on the internet and try not to flip over his stool and smash his computer in agony and frustration.

Unlucky for us, John has a heart of gold and was incredibly patient and calm with each fail we threw at him. First, John watched two young, hopeful cooks attempt to make a Japanese fluffy soufflé. "I've made a lot of soufflés, foaming up those egg whites, getting nice peaks, and folding ingredients in," John said. "However I have not made soufflé pancakes. I make buttermilk pancakes and they're delicious."

Once John heard it was the first time these two bakers were attempting to make the towering pancakes, he knew he was in for a disaster. "It's very bold to film something you have not made before."

Next, John watched possibly the most spastic chocolate chip cookie video where no measurements were made at any point in time and all of the mixing was done in mugs. Nice! "She has a very frenetic vibe," John explained. "Oh my god. She's not using any measuring cups."

The cookie video's downward spiral was enough for John to give a sigh and declare: The moral of the story is to measure your ingredients.

To watch the full video and find out John's reactions to the macaron and soufflé fails (personally, our favorite), watch on Delish's YouTube page now.
