Let's "ReCork America!"
Who doesn’t love a good bottle of wine once in a while? You invite some friends over, enjoy your wonderful bottle of wine, clean, and recycle the bottle. You take one last look at your cork, think about how many uses you will have for this little woody, spongy miracle, shrug your shoulders, and then toss it in the trash.
Not anymore, my friend! If you live on the West Coast, you can actually recycle your corks now. Drop them off at select locations in Northern California and Oregon (including Whole Foods stores) and ReCork America will do the rest. Recork is a recycling program run by Portugal’s Amorim, the world’s largest producer of cork wine stoppers. They collect corks and find ways to repurpose them into shoe soles, floors, and insulation.
Just think, what you were about to unceremoniously throw away could actually be used towards your new floor. Find out more about ReCork America here.
