Get Yourself a Gimlet
If you’re used to Rose’s “lime juice,” this version of the gimlet just may push you to keep a stock of fresh limes in your refrigerator.
Fresh lime juice really does change the way a gimlet tastes, and I am a convert. I prefer a gin gimlet, and Plymouth gin is especially good, but any type will do.
(Another delicious gin to try is Hendrick’s, which will appear in a later post for a later cocktail. Hendricks is unlike any other gin I’ve ever tasted — lots more juniper flavor and so crisp. It’s a gin that even many non-gin drinkers will like.)
What you need:
3 oz. gin or vodka
2 1/2 oz. fresh sour mix (half lime juice, half simple syrup)
Lime wedge for garnish
Pour the gin and sour mix over ice in a shaker. Give it a good shake, pour over ice in a fresh glass, and sip. Delicious.
You can also serve this straight up in a martini glass.
