Palo Santo Marron

The Nitty Gritty:

  • Brewery: Dogfish Head
  • Type: Ale
  • Style: Brown ale
  • Country: United States
  • Price: About $3
  • Rating: 87/100
  • Tags: strong Dogfish Head

This beer is impressive. A hefty 12% ABV, there certainly is some alcohol heat present, but there is much, much more than that. Vanilla, chocolate, caramel, sandalwood, dark fruits — it’s all there. Somehow. One of the brewers recommend that it also cellars well, so pick up a case and hold it for a while, if you can.

I had two of these at the Dogfish Head Ale House in 7 Corners in March. At 12% alcohol, you'll definately feel it, but it was very well balanced keeping heat from the alcohol from being an issue. This beer is my hands down favorite from Dogfish Head. It's bold, hearty, and just downright delicious.
