About The Humble Gourmand

The Humble Gourmand is a monthly online publication edited by Alison L. McConnell, a Washington, D.C.-based journalist and writer. It is designed to offer straightforward lessons and advice to aspiring cooks, oenophiliacs, and all other eaters and drinkers.

The HG includes recipes, feature articles and essays, restaurant reviews, and a wine column, The Wine Leading the Blind, penned by wine muse Lauren McNally.

The HG's blog, Victuals & Vittles, is updated regularly between issues. Check it out! Digg it! Subscribe to the feed! It’s del.icio.us! (Ok, ok, we’re getting carried away…)

The Humble Gourmand's website was conceptualized, designed, and developed by M. Jackson Wilkinson, who works his 9–5 (7-5? 7-7?) as an Internet Strategist with Viget Labs, one of the top web firms in the country.

Planning a dinner party or cocktail gathering?  We'd love to help.

The Humble Gourmand will work with you to develop a customized menu for your event.  We'll also help you select the perfect wine, beer, or other beverages to accompany it.  Then, let us take over -- we'll do your shopping, prepare the food, and help with cleanup. It's a completely low-stress, hands-off experience for you, so the host can be a host and enjoy the guests!
